Fall Is Back, My Sunday Blogs Are Back, and Avery Is Still Talking

Hello, beautiful people.
It has been a while since we met here on a Sunday. My last blog was back in April, and somehow we blinked, enjoyed an entire summer, survived the heat, packed away the beach bags, and arrived in fall.
Life has been full. Very full.
Between being a mom, running The Skincare Studio, caring for clients, supporting my team, and trying to make time for myself, the past few months have moved quickly. But I have missed writing these blogs and having honest conversations with all of you.
So, consider this my official announcement.
The Sunday blogs are back.
Every Sunday, I will be sharing skin education, aesthetic updates, treatment information, studio news, and a little look into my life as a mom, provider, and business owner.
Grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable.
Actually, you can grab a cup of coffee. I cannot.
We will talk about that shortly.
Life as a Mom, Business Owner, and Provider
People often ask how I balance everything.
The honest answer is that every day looks different, and balance does not always mean giving everything the same amount of attention at the same time.
One moment I am in full mom mode. The next moment I am reviewing a client’s skin, answering questions, supporting my staff, checking inventory, working on the schedule, planning content, or making another decision for the business.
Some days I feel incredibly organized and productive. Other days, I am simply happy that everyone got where they needed to be and that I remembered most of the important things.
Running a business is exciting, but it also requires constant thought, planning, and problem solving. There is always something happening behind the scenes that clients may never see. We are reviewing processes, improving communication, updating protocols, supporting our team, and finding new ways to improve every client’s experience.
Then I go home and become Mom again.
It is busy, beautiful, exhausting, rewarding, and occasionally powered by pure determination.
Even when life feels hectic, I remain grateful. I get to raise my children, build a business, serve my community, and help people feel more confident in their skin. I do not take any of those responsibilities lightly.
An Update on My Coffee and Alcohol Strike
I would normally make a joke about forgetting where I left my coffee, but I am currently on a coffee and alcohol strike.
Yes, I decided to give up both at the same time.
Please keep me in your thoughts.
It has been rough, especially on the mornings when coffee feels less like a beverage and more like emotional support. But once I get through those difficult moments, I honestly feel really good.
I feel more focused, I have been drinking more water, and I have been making a greater effort to prioritize myself.
I have also been doing lots of Pilates at Core Pilates in Shelton. It has become such an important part of my routine. Pilates gives me time to slow down, focus, move my body, and do something that is just for me.
When you spend so much of your day caring for your family, your clients, your team, and your business, making time for yourself can feel like a luxury. I am learning to treat it like a priority instead.
If you decide to visit Core Pilates in Shelton, be sure to mention my name, Terri, for a special gift.
You might even see me there, working through the class and wondering why I voluntarily signed up for another round of shaking legs.
Join My 30 Day Reset
Since I am already committed, I am inviting you to join me for a 30 day reset.
For 30 days, we are focusing on:
• No coffee
• No alcohol
• More water
• Consistent movement
• Better sleep habits
• More intentional choices
My movement of choice is Pilates, but you can choose whatever works for you. Walk, stretch, dance, take a fitness class, ride a bike, or finally use the workout equipment that has quietly become part of your home decor.
This challenge is not about being perfect. It is not about punishing ourselves or following an unrealistic routine. It is about slowing down, paying attention to how our habits make us feel, and becoming more intentional about caring for ourselves.
If completely removing coffee is not appropriate for you, you can create a version of the challenge that fits your needs. You might reduce your intake, drink more water, improve your sleep routine, or commit to daily movement. The goal is to make choices that help you feel better.
If you join me, tag The Skincare Studio and share your progress. I will be giving honest updates in the Sunday blogs, including the good days, the difficult days, and the days when I stare lovingly at someone else’s coffee.
Who is joining me?
Let’s Talk About the State of Aesthetics
The aesthetics industry is growing and changing quickly.
Every time we open social media, there is a new treatment, product, device, technique, or trend promising to completely transform our skin or appearance. Some of the information is helpful and educational. Some of it is designed to go viral.
Aesthetic care can look simple in a short video, but the reality is very different.
A video cannot review your medical history. It cannot evaluate your skin type, skin tone, facial structure, lifestyle, medications, or previous treatments. It also cannot determine whether the service that worked for someone else is safe or appropriate for you.
Aesthetics should not feel like fast fashion.
The newest treatment is not automatically the best treatment. The most dramatic result is not always the healthiest result. The lowest price does not always represent the best value. The service your favorite influencer received may not be what your skin or face needs.
Clients deserve more than a trendy treatment and a quick appointment. They deserve education, thoughtful recommendations, realistic expectations, informed consent, proper aftercare, and a provider who is willing to say no when something is not appropriate.
Why We Work So Hard to Maintain Our Standard of Care
At The Skincare Studio, we work hard to provide a high standard of care because we understand the responsibility that comes with treating your skin and face.
Our care begins before your treatment.
We listen to your concerns, review your history, evaluate your skin, discuss your goals, and explain your options. We want you to understand what a treatment can do, what it cannot do, and what you can realistically expect.
We do not believe that every client needs the same service. Your treatment plan should reflect your individual needs, skin tone, medical history, lifestyle, budget, and goals.
Sometimes providing good care means recommending a different treatment. Sometimes it means starting slowly. Sometimes it means creating a plan that takes place over several months. Sometimes it means telling you that you do not need the treatment you requested.
That honesty is part of our standard.
Our responsibility also continues after your appointment. We provide aftercare instructions, answer questions, encourage follow up when necessary, and remain available if you have a concern.
We continue learning because the industry continues changing. Education, training, safety, and thoughtful treatment planning are not optional parts of what we do. They are part of the commitment we make to every person who trusts us.
We are not interested in chasing every trend. We are interested in giving our clients safe, personalized, high quality care.
Many of You Have Met Avery
If you have visited our website, you may have already met Avery, our AI assistant.
Let’s be honest.
Avery can be a little annoying.
She is enthusiastic. She is persistent. She is always ready to help, even when you were only trying to look at one service page in peace.
But Avery helps our office run more effectively. She answers common questions, directs visitors to useful information, and supports the booking process when our team is caring for clients or the office is closed.
Technology will never replace the personal care you receive from our team. Avery is simply another tool we use to improve communication and make information easier to access.
So, if Avery pops up to say hello, please be patient with her. She means well, and she really does help keep things moving behind the scenes.
Fall Skin Has Entered the Chat
Summer was fun, but your skin may have a few things to say about it.
Sun exposure, heat, sweat, travel, and inconsistent routines can leave the skin feeling dry, congested, dull, or uneven. You may also notice more dark spots, breakouts, sensitivity, or changes in texture.
Fall is a wonderful time to check in with your skin and create a plan for the cooler months.
Your fall plan may include professional treatments, medical grade skin care, more hydration, daily sunscreen, or services that address concerns such as acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, uneven texture, and unwanted hair.
And yes, you still need sunscreen in the fall.
The sun did not retire simply because pumpkin spice returned.
At The Skincare Studio, we understand that every complexion requires thoughtful evaluation. We proudly care for a diverse community, and we create plans based on the person sitting in front of us, not a generic trend or viral video.
Friday Nights Are Now for Skin Care
I know that many clients have difficulty scheduling appointments during traditional weekday hours.
Between work, school, children, family responsibilities, and everything else on the calendar, finding time for yourself can feel like another full time job.
This fall, I will begin offering Friday evening appointments from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
These later hours are for clients who cannot easily visit the studio during the day. You can finish work, handle your responsibilities, and then come see me at the studio.
Friday evening appointments will be limited, so booking in advance is strongly encouraged.
We Are Entering a New Season Together
This fall feels like a fresh start.
I am making more intentional choices in my personal life, creating more flexibility for my clients, continuing to improve the way we care for you, and returning to the Sunday blogs that allow us to stay connected.
Thank you for supporting The Skincare Studio. Thank you for trusting our team, referring your friends, reading our messages, leaving reviews, booking appointments, and allowing us to care for your skin.
In an industry that continues to change, our commitment remains the same.
We will continue working hard to provide thoughtful, honest, personalized care in an environment where you feel heard, respected, and supported.
The Sunday blogs are officially back.
The Friday evening appointments are coming.
The 30 day challenge is happening.
Fall skin is ready for some attention.
And Avery is still talking.
